Virtual Tour of Ballyhornan scout Centre

Ballyhornan Scout Centre is located in Ballyhornan village  outside Downpatrick, Co Down. In Irish it is also known as ‘Baile Uí Chornáin — Ó Cornáin’s townland’ the origin is Baile Torannan, or Toranan’s Town.

Ballyhornan Scout Centre opened its doors in October 2015. It is a self catering, hostel style Scout Centre with 2 fully equipped accommodation blocks, a commercial sized kitchen, dining hall and activity hall.

 The Commedagh accommodation block is furnished with 32 beds and the Binnian accommodation block is furnished with 24 beds and comes equipped with its own canteen and small kitchen. Meelbeg,  the leaders hut comes equipped with 7 beds and its own small kitchen. There is a full commercial styled kitchen and canteen facility in the Bearnagh hut with state of the art cooking equipment. The heart of the Centre is our ‘Scout’ hall that comes equipped with tables, chairs, a projector screen, and a small games store. In the games store you will find a limited number of games. (Giant Jenga, Uni-hoc, Giant Dominos, Connect Four)

 

Ballyhornan Fees

The fee for Ballyhornan Scout Centre is £5 per head per night with a minimum fee of £300 for booking the complete Centre. Those wishing to book Binnian, with 24 beds and self contained kitchen also pay £5 per head per night, with a minimum fee of £180. There is an extra charge for gas and electricity which is calculated on the basis of meter readings undertaken by the warden on duty.
